Congratulations to the overall winners of this year’s National Enterprise Awards, deservedly proud new owners of one of my bronze trophies.
My latest stone sculpture, A Bowery Bird, is now showing in the Facing West exhibition in King House, as part of Boyle Arts Festival 2017. If you are in the North Roscommon area you can call in to see the show which runs until August 18th. The Arts Festival was opened by Heather Humphreys, Minister for Culture.
This new Kilkenny Limestone stone sculpture is part of a collection of work including my small bird sculptures in bronze and stone.
Great write up on the Harnessing Creativity project in the current Visual Artists News Sheet, pg 29, career development. The article is an overview of the experience of designer – maker Kate Oram’s involvement in the project to date. We will post Kate’s video of her HC product development project “online tutorials & 3 d printing”. More info to come on these exciting projects as they develop.
This bronze dove on olive wood was a lovely commission to make, with thanks to the patron, Father Niall Ahern.
I first carved the dove in white marble, then sand cast it in bronze.
I sourced the olive wood myself on a trip to Portugal, and the little bronze olive branch was made by my friend, Louiza Dimitriou, who lives and works in Athens.
