Kate Oram on Shannonside
Three Shannonside companies were award recipients at the recent National Enterprise Awards, Dromod Boxty took home a regional award while Lidan Designs in Roscommon were the winners of the Future Focus award - Mullingar based Bevcraf won the top honor.
All those companies took home a bronze piece made by renowned Kate Oram. Kate was born in County Galway before moving to England for her degree in Wood Metal and Ceramics.
While establishing her studio in Belfast and later Bangor, Co. Down, she also studied bronze foundry practice in Belfast. Kate relocated to Co. Roscommon and lived she lives just outside Boyle. She's been telling MaryClaire Grealy about her work. Mary Claire asked her firstly when she first knew she had an interest for this work.
